Here are three fantastic photographs of George O'Mara, who was a physique model in the 1950's to late 1960's.

I especially like the image of him standing and apparently testing the tensile strength of a sconce, his upper torso nothing short of spectacular.

In the early 1960's, Helmut Riedmeier was a hugely popular physique model from Europe, where laws against photographing adult nudes were decriminalized sooner than those in the United States and Canada.

Bob Delmonteque


I suspect this outstanding photograph of Bob Delmonteque was taken by Douglas of Detroit, who perfected double exposures like this one, but I am searching for confirmation.

In August, 1961, the Volume 11, Number 1 issue of Bob Mizer's magazine, Physique Pictorial, first featured dark-haired Juwa LaVonce posing with Howard Heidtmann and Don Hawksley.

Blond Howard is rapidly eclipsing Don Fuller as my favorite vintage beefcake model.
