Gene Licka by the Western Photography Guild

Models photographed by the Western Photography Guild often take on an otherworldliness many associate with the rugged outdoor settings.

But my favorite in this series of images of Gene Licka (of which I believe all were taken by the WPG) is the one of him in the studio, his arms and legs contorted unnaturally, the index finger of his right hand crooked downwards.

Like a Greek or Roman god depicted in an ancient mosaic, he appears to be telegraphing a message to us across time.
