John also acted a great deal - in the West End, he played Cowboy in Boys in the Band when the UK cast took over from the original Broadway company. He also appeared in a number of British tv series, including Riviera Police and the much-loved soap Crossroads (in which he played an amateur boxer and was frequently shirtless), and notably turned up in Joan Crawford's penultimate movie, the dreadful Trog. Since then, John has dropped out of sight and is reported to live a quiet, rather reclusive life.
