Russ Warner at Work


I was thrilled when I came across this photograph of Russ Warner at work in his studio.

Readers frequently ask me how he managed to get so many of his models to pose nude in the 1950's.

A part of the answer certainly must lie in the fact that he was a fellow bodybuilder who could show his prospective subjects superb photographs he'd already taken of other men.

The model in this photograph is Jack LaLanne.

    You can check LIFE magazine archives online, as that is the source for this photo. I believe there are several other photos in this series for LIFE. Yes, this actually is Mr. LaLanne in his early days before TV.
