Robert Gebhart makes his premiere on the blog with these photographs of Ernie Lopez.
Gebhart signed the name, Gebbé, to his images, which were widely featured in physique magazines in the 1930's and 1940's.
In the late 1930's, Gebhart was at the YMCA on the Upper West Side of Manhattan showing someone his photographs of bodybuilders, when Alonzo Hanagan aka Lon introduced himself and expressed an interest in becoming a physique photographer.
Gebhart became a mentor and lifelong friend of Lon, one of the great physique photographers.
