  2. Hello!

I'm glad you enjoy the blog. I like working on it every day.

I am really delighted by the enthusiasm of your recent notes on various posts.

I enjoy the artistry of the photographers from the 1880's to 1960's who were sincerely trying to capture the beauty of the male physique. As you likely know, not since the ancient Greeks and Romans were men admired in the West solely for their physical beauty, a concept we take for granted today but one that sent shock waves through the West in the 1920's all the way to the 1970's.

And I love the images of the athletes and circus and sideshow performers around the turn of the 20th century. Many of these men were immensely famous in their time, and it is great to see their physiques in the decades before body enhancers and to remember their place at the head of the table, really, in the birth of beefcake - and, inadvertently for many of the models, I suppose, but certainly not for the photographers, not men like Bob Mizer, in the struggle for equality rights for the LGBTQ community.

    Best regards,

    Michael
